Great food at good price.

They close early so go early. This was one of the few places in Kauai with excellent food and good prices. Takeout so you avoid tip. The quality is better than many restaurants in Kauai. We tried various hot foods with rice, some poke too. Their Chicken and Shrimp plate is very affordable and delicious.

Came here to pick up poke for lunch. A small line already formed but it didn’t take long to get inside the small store to place our order. Service was quick. We ended up with more cooked food, and loved everything we ordered: the lomi salmon was very delectable, the kalua pork was tender and salted just right, both tuna and salmon poke tasted fresh and flavorfully seasoned, the wakame refreshed the palate, the fried ginger chicken and shrimp, lightly pankoed and crisp, were also very yummy. Prices were reasonable, e.g., $9 for 2 pieces each of tasty chicken and shrimp was a great deal! The locally made coconut water complemented a great meal.

Konohiki deserves way more than five stars. Our only vacation regret was not finding this place sooner! We only got to visit twice, but it will certainly be more next time we’re in the area. It was a recommendation by one of our tour guides and is clearly popular with the locals. My husband is a bit of a poke connoisseur, and he swears up and down this is the best he’s ever eaten. Poke can be hit-or-miss for me, but I couldn’t get enough of the spicy ahi! The sushi is also top-notch, as are the various sides that came with our poke plates. If a member of your party isn’t into fish, there’s plenty else by way of chicken and chinese to pick from.
There’s often a line out the front door, but it moves so fast as to hardly matter (you’ll spend less time here than at most food trucks). This place is far more affordable than most other spots like it on the island, too. Incredible quality and value! There’s no seating, but it’s easily packaged to take to the beach or elsewhere. Don’t let the unassuming exterior fool you – this just might be the best food on the island.
